Wheels of Dreams
The "Wheels of Dreams" event held at the "Cars of Dreams Museum" private car collection of John Staluppi, and the Barrett-Jackson AuctionGala were exciting to say the least.
If you go to "The Shadrach Mustang" facebook page, you will find several video and picture portfolios showing the activities for those two nights. If you don't have a Facebook account, it will only take a few minutes to create a free page. If you don't want to create a free account, a quick link to the Shadrach Mustang Facebook web site is: The Shadrach Mustang
An estimated auction time for the Shadrach Mustang, Lot # 661, is now somewhere between the prime auction hours of 3-5pm this Saturday. You can watch and "root on" the bidders live on the Speed Channel. Click on SPEED TV.com for additional information on this live show.
Hubert Platt, one of the namesakes of the Platt & Payne duo and the ultimate showman, can't make it. He broke his hip two weeks ago and couldn't make the trip. However, if all goes as planned, Darrell or Randy will hold up a sign that say's "Where's Hubert". When Hubert attends any car show or event, he has folks go around and stick labels on folks that says "Where's Hubert". Hubert will be watching the show from his home in north Georgia and should get a big kick out of the play on his "promotional" gimmick.
Here's hoping the car brings a healthy price that will go directly to the Darrell Gwynn Foundation. By the way, any takers on what it will bring?
As an aside, I had to come home early for personal family reasons and will miss being on stage with Randy Payne and my partner, Mike Langston, when they auction the car. My one chance at fame will not happen. I know that breaks your heart!
Shadrach Mustang nets second highest price at BJ Auction
In a field of around 800 of the finest collector cars sold at the Barrett-Jackson (BJ) Collector Car Auction held in Palm Beach this past week, the Supercharged Platt & Payne Signature Edition Shadrach Mustang , donated by my partner in the Shadrach Mustang project, Mike Langston, sold for the second highest price of the three day event - $190,000.00.
Along with the Shadrach Mustang, the Coors Extra Gold Top Fuel Dragster Replica, the original car driven by Darrell Gwynn in 1990, sold for $140,000.00.
Over the course of the pre-auction and auction events, the Darrell Gwynn Foundation raised close to $1,000,000 that will go a long way in helping the deserving spinal injury victims his foundation helps.
